Our Story

A Family Tradition, Handcrafted Since 1987

Some things are simply better made by hand. At Graham’s, that’s been our philosophy from the beginning. For nearly four decades, our family has crafted chocolates and ice cream in Geneva, Illinois, using traditional techniques, exceptional ingredients, and care that can’t be mass-produced.

But Graham’s has always been about more than chocolate.

It’s a story about family.

A Family Tradition, Handcrafted Since 1987
It all started with The Chocolate Man

It all started with The Chocolate Man & a dream.

In 1987, Robert “Bob” Untiedt opened a little chocolate shop in Geneva’s Berry House Shops, just across the street from where our flagship store stands today.

A former high school band director, Bob brought an artist’s creativity and a perfectionist’s standards to chocolate making. He studied under some of the country’s finest chocolatiers, learning traditional techniques and developing the recipes that would become Graham’s. Around here, we like to say he was our real-life Willy Wonka—always experimenting, creating, and dreaming up what could come next.

Beside him was his wife, Beckie, who became the force behind the business side of Graham’s. Together, they grew that little chocolate shop into something neither could have built alone.

Even the name is part of the family story. Bob didn't think “Untiedt Chocolates” had quite the right ring, so he borrowed the maiden name of his mother, Helen Graham.

Graham’s was a family business from the very first sign above the door.

Growing Up Graham's

In 1993, Bob and Beckie purchased our flagship building at 302 S. Third Street, bringing the candy kitchen and shop to downtown Geneva. That same year, Beckie’s twin sister, Bonnie, joined the business for decades before retiring.

Their daughters, Jayni and Maddi, grew up around the shops, learning that a family business is woven into everyday life—holidays, long days, customers who become friends, and employees who become family.

Maddi later pursued a career outside Graham’s, while Jayni continued into business leadership.

As the family grew, so did Graham’s. Our Geneva candy kitchen expanded, and in 2000, we opened our second location in downtown Wheaton.

Graham's Second Generation

Graham's Next Generation

When Bob passed away in March 2021, Graham’s lost its founder, chocolatier, teacher, and beloved family member. But he left behind more than recipes and techniques—he left us his standards.

Today, his daughter, Jayni Wunderlich, serves as CEO, alongside her husband, Matt Wunderlich, COO. Together, they honor Bob and Beckie’s legacy while guiding Graham’s into its next generation.

Their three children are now growing up with Graham’s woven into their childhoods, just as Jayni and Maddi did.

Whether the next generation will join the family business remains to be seen. For now, they're happily along for the ride.
